Welcome to Reach Academy
Message from the Principal
Welcome to the Reach Academy Website. All information and updates for families are included in the Closure Information section on this site.
From 15th June, in line with Government guidance we are welcoming back some of our Year 10 students. We are really looking forward to this and have planned meticulously for their arrival and day so they are safe and happy in school. Details of this can be found on this site.
For those students remaining at home, we are using Microsoft Teams to deliver lessons, upload learning materials and meet with the children live twice a week. Please could I ask, you monitor this with your child, as we need students to engage with us on this platform and complete the work set.
From 22nd June, each day will be assigned to a subject and students can meet their teachers live, twice a day, for help, support, and guidance. Our Safeguarding and Wellbeing team will also be having 1-1 Teams meetings with your child each week to support them with wellbeing during these unprecedented and difficult times. A schedule will be sent out to you so you can monitor this with your child.
Thank you for the daily contact we have with you. We love speaking to you everyday and we are very blessed to have such supportive parents and carers who work with us in the best interests of your child and family.
If you have any concerns regarding home learning activities, or the wellbeing of your child, no matter how small, please do not hesitate to contact us. Our Safeguarding lead is Zoe Simpson (firstname.lastname@example.org) and our Vice Principal is Scott Manifold (email@example.com). If you have any concerns regarding College applications, please email David Miles (firstname.lastname@example.org) who will support you with this.
Alpha Academies Trust Announcement
From the 1st June 2020, the Government has requested schools to begin welcoming back students, alongside the full time provision they are offering to priority groups. Alpha Academies Trust has responded by implementing detailed risk assessments to ensure it is safe to do so.
Click here to read the letter from the CEO and Chair of the Trust detailing the outcome of these risk assessments, and how the Trust intends to address the new Government guidance.
Alpha Academies Trust has also made guidance available for parents, detailing what measures will be implemented to ensure a safe learning environment when children return.
The Government have cancelled all public examinations for 2020, and staff have followed DfE guidelines whilst assessing the hard work completed by children to support a GCSE grade that will be awarded in the same way as previous years.
